The first group of high school graduates from our College Resilience Program heads off to college and are beginning a new chapter in their journey to higher education. These students are participating in a year long program developed by EBF and CPC to help Asian American youths with a focus on low income and first generation students to build college resilience and improve graduation success. Summer activities included a celebration of graduation from HS, a college transition fair to help incoming freshmen better understand what to expect in college and a networking event to connect with peers and mentors to accelerate the building of a social support system.
After starting college, these students are invited to participate in an on-line survey to assess their perceptions and feelings about college including college readiness and any challenges they experienced. They will also be asked to provide feedback on the summer program activities and whether they were helpful with transition to college.
